Workplaces aren’t always prepared for older mothers

Dodge, 51, had her son when she was 42, her daughter at 46. By then, she had reaped enough professional and financial awards in the hospitality and tourism industry to call her own shots. She and her husband could afford a nanny when the kids were young.
A few years ago, she left her position in the hotel business in Toronto and Vaughan – and all the travel and long hours it entailed – and moved with her family to Brockville, where she runs a retirement home.
Though Dodge is still in a leadership role, she has the time and energy to get the kids to hockey and gymnastics and to help them with their homework. The family also has the money and freedom for vacations and other perks.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost that precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted that there will be no more babies in our house.

I am 40 years old and will be 41 in April. My husband and I have been married for almost 16 years. We have no children (by choice), and are now considering trying to conceive. I have no choice to have a baby in a late age. I am 35 years old now and I am not ready to start a family yet.(financial and emotional).However I really want to have a baby of my own. Every time I see a baby which reminds me I want one. The reality of my real life makes me depressed very much. You can not find a help at all. I hope that God help me and miracle do happens on me.
